Prototype M1943 Shoulderboards
Though I sold off all (but one) of my uniforms, I still collect prototype high ranking M1943 boards. I thought I'd share a few. Most have the tags still attached (date, location, description, etc.) but I will not post the tags in the photos.
I'll post my favorite first. Its for a rank that never came to be, Marshal of the Kremlin Guard. This is a single; some are sets, some are singles (it depended on the stage the boards got to, some never getting past the drawing stage). DD |

This set is listed as a possible 1943 prototype for either Marshal of the USSR or Generalissimo. My guess is it was a prptotype for Marshal of the USSR and then later the design was looked at again for Generalissimo.

This sset is from the 1945 design of the Generalissimo rank ( i had 4 other sets from that design that I sold to a fellow forum member last year); i have to say I am glad they did not go with this design!

This single is one of the first that was designed for the 1943 marshal of the USSR rank. It shows that it was through alot of hands and has quite a bit of wear.

Generalissimo
These next 4 sets I no longer own. These were all late Generalissimo designs based on the already used Marshal of the USSR rank. They are all similar, adding embroidery to the marshals design.
