My Soviet Officer's Moscow Parade Greatcoat
This is perhaps the most coveted uniform in my collection. I purchased the greatcoat new and unissued sperately, and sewed on all the insignia and accessories myself. I believe everything is correct for a parade down Moscow's Red Square on November 7th . You wouldn't believe the trouble I had to go through to get the correct collar tabs for my parade overcoat. I had to import them from Estonia. As I'm sure everyone here knows, the special collar tabs that are sized for the overcoats with gold edgings are quite rare, as they were only used by honor guard regiments, or for officer's on parade in Moscow. Anyway, here's some pictures I'd like to share! I do also happen to have the matching Army sword belt for the overcoat, complete with suspenders to hang the presentation dagger from, but sadly I have no presentation dagger!

Re: My Soviet Officer's Moscow Parade Greatcoat
Very nice coat indeed. The grey parade coats are my favorite (naval black running a close second). They look smart and I find they are better fitted than the daily darker "wool blanket" looking greatcoats.
Alas, I have a presentation dagger given to me by a naval officer from 1991 or 92, but you need army, not navy. Welcome, Phillip

Awesome coat, its a spectacle, its even got the little braid!
I recently got an airforce coat, frankly I think the grey is nicest too; the ugly other kind is dead last for me, navy looks sharp though for a close second! :) |

Re: My Soviet Officer's Moscow Parade Greatcoat
You guys are talking about the daily overcoats that are that charcoal brown color right? I don't think they're too bad. They weren't designed to be flashy like the gray colored parade overcoats. But yes, I do agree the black navy ones are very sharp looking. Gray is my favorite, and navy would be second for me.
Thank you all for your comments! It took me forever to find all the correct insignia and accessories to go with that coat. The collar tabs were imported from Estonia, and the officer's akselbant (or aiguillette if you prefer) I had to import from Ukraine lol. |
