If original then that is a M1955 infantry officers parade cap. The thing is they are being maunfactured in great numbers now so you have to be really careful.
Check the inside if you can (or get pictures) there should be a fair amount of wear. If itlooks brand new then I would not pay more than £20.

i was curious where you heard they were making large numbers of fake M1955 items? this would seem odd as the originals are very available and don't sell for much. DougD |

I have never heard of a fake M1955 hat. I think $50 would be a great price for it and $100 still fair.
To make a fake you would either need to make the hat badge and leaves out of very high quality thick brass like the originals or substitute easy to spot cheaper aluminium. Shawn |

Really? That surprises me. These caps were in absoloutly mint conidtion, not something you would have expected to be nearly 50 years old and the absence of a label inside the cap was what made me think they were definately repro. Were they actually issued with no maker label?

Well, they are faking M1943 so it is possible. Try to get a better look sometime. All the ones I had had a diamond label inside. What were the badges like? Cheap or thick??

repro.
Really good condition and no label simply is not enough to call it repro. You need to be able to point out specific parts of the hat that are not "right" and why they are not right. There is a market for fake M1935, M1940, and M1943 era uniforms; not so for M1954 uniforms.
