Unusual Army Cap Buttons???

Hey all!

I wanted to ask about a pair of buttons on a Medical/Administration NCO's cap that I just won in an online auction. I'm used to the standard star/hammer & sickle buttons but this one has what look like crossed rifles behind them.

The seller thinks it's dated 1957. Attached is the seller's pic:

I don't know too much about cap buttons. Thanks for your help! I'll post more of the cap when it arrives. It looks legit overall.

Re: Unusual Army Cap Buttons???

Perhaps it is some type of VOKhR buttons? They used crossed rifles.

That's what I suspected too, but I'm not sure if that's the answer. I have 3 VOKhR hats and they all have standard army buttons. None are as old as 1957 though.

I tried to copy the other pic but it's not working. VOKhR buttons wouldn't make sense on the cap, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used them as a substitution at the factory.

Thanks!

Buttons can be changed/replaced easily...

I once owned a BOXP cap with an Aeroflot button on one side.

Re: Unusual Army Cap Buttons???

Thanks for your help! I was recently told that the buttons are indeed VOHkR buttons, but they're 40s-50s vintage, which is interesting. I'll keep my eyes open for some older Army ones.

Here's a pic for the heck of it!

Re: Unusual Army Cap Buttons???

Thanks! For all the caps I bought now, I keep finding more that I don't have. I wish I had room to display them, but I think the only way I'll get to keep buying more is if I keep them hidden out of sight in my office. How I found a wife that appreciates/tolerates Soviet cap collecting, I'll never know!:thumbsup

Thanks for the help!
