Home of record: [trans: entry intentionally obliterated] Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment During offensive fighting in Eastern Prussia beginning 21st January, 1945, he displayed bravery and courage. Despite heavy enemy artillery, rifle, and machinegun fire he repeatedly visited frontline positions, where he quickly repaired damaged weapons in a high-quality manner and fixed problems, thus significantly enabling the successful conduct of combat operations. He especially excelled in fighting near Waterkein* Station on 30.1.45 when at the necessary moment he delivered ammunition to the first battalion, thus supporting the successful conduct of operations in capturing the station and in fighting near Landsberg* on 6.2.45 when the enemy carried out seven consecutive counterattacks and when the small units expended their ammunition, despite the danger of falling into enemy hands when the enemy was 50-100 meters from the road, he delivered ammunition, thus supporting the repulsion of the enemy counterattacks. He is deserving the Order of the Red Star. Memorandum from the Poltava Oblast Committee Party archives dated January 13, 1965 confirming his participation in "The Motherland's Patrioti" underground group in Kremenchug, Ukraine from 1942 through September 1943, and two congratulatory certificates for fighting in Eastern Prussia, one for Masurian Lakes, Angenburg, and Bartenstein, and the second for southwest of Koenigsberg.

This Landsberg is likely to be the current Górowo Iławeckie (currently closely to the Polish border with Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast)- it was called Landsberg in Ostpreussen before 1945 and was captured by the Red Army on February the 4th.
