Here is a Institute Of Civil Aviation Attendance Card for José Marti Airport to Ignacio Fernández Martinez from 1966. It would seem that he did guard shifts at Cuba's main airport in the early days of Fidel's rule.

This Pre-Revolution fills in lots of information on Ignacio. A Naval Air Force veteran of the "Campaign Of 1941" (World War II) in good standing with solid service to the pre-revolutionary armed forces. This is the first time I've come across a War Veteran serving the Post-Revolution government. A very interesting piece of history to someone who served in Cuba's most active (although tiny) force during the war. The Naval Air Force had no casualties during the campaign although Cuba did lose 79 service personnel 41-45.
