Naval infantrymen?
This 1956-dated pic shows a somewhat unusually dressed soldiers - they have the standard M56 Soviet Army EM uniforms, but with navy shoulderboards. They are no cadets (no gold"frame" on the boards). Are they naval infantry? they seem to have no piping around the boards (I would expct red that was used by e.g. the seaside services).

Re: Naval infantrymen?
Looks like BF on the boards - Baltic Fleet. Naval infantry or coastal artillery perhaps?

Re: Naval infantrymen?
Yes, Baltic fleet indeed. Would not the coastal artillery wear navy uniforms?

Re: Naval infantrymen?
OK, I have checked with the 1956vregs. There were soldiers of the navy who wore army uniforms and were NOT considered a coastal service. Those were mainly artillery (so the coastal art. seems OK), engineers, radio communication specialists. Unfortunately, most of this guys wear no branch emblems on their boards (except for the one in the last row, who seems to have artillery emblem and the one in the second who seems to have the automobile service emblem), so it's probably impossible to say who they were.

Re: Naval infantrymen?
Fresh faces and almost complete lack of badging may indicate new troopers?
Not that that helps IDing the unit...
