Full cavalier "Bol'bot"
Can someone with the Full Cavalier book post the bio on a guy - Bol'bot?
I met him last night at a reception. He was in the 1 Belorussian Front, was a general's driver, fought in Berlin, met the Americans, etc. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Full cavalier "Bol'bot"
Christophe, our 85-year-old hero doesn't look as young as his photo anymore :).
He was spry and fun to talk with. He was struck with my wife and told us he and his wife were married for 62 years - his one and only love. They met in 1942 as he was going off to war and then married upon his return from Germany in 1947. His advice was to remain true to each other. Completely unsolicited he praised Americans and their war contribution and remembered meeting them after Victory Day since he was the driver for a general by the very end of the war. After talking for about 5 minutes I told him it was a great honor to meet him and asked him his last name. He said it was easy to remember - "bol'" Russian for "pain" and "bot" as in "boot". Of the 30-40 veterans in attendance there were only a 3-4 remaining Glory participants, one of which had a Glory II and Glory III, but I didn't get the opportunity to talk with him. The hosting embassy took plenty of pictures of us together, if I get any I'll post them. Everybody was feeling no pain and it was a festive event. |

Hi Paul,
Seemed to be a great event. :thumbsup Always interesting this kind of discussion, and he certainly has good advices to give to us, with our more common lives... If you have pics, please, don't hesitate to post them, including those with your wife... ;) Just kidding, of course... :D Thanks. Cheers. Ch. |

Re: Full cavalier "Bol'bot"
Interesting name - is that ethnic Russian? Sounds like Pol Pot, but obviously, the two have nothing in common.
