Railway Security?
Tapping the brain trust again. So several years ago I'm getting this crate of helmets and civil defense posters from a gent in Latvia and he says for a few bucks more he'll throw in some nice uniforms. Most were M69 enlisted gear but included were the coats shown on this and next post. He had tacked on some navy field grade boards upon which he had sewn some sleeve stars so they looked a bit "marshallist" and stuck all kinds of stars and devices in the collar tabs to look...well...I don't know. They insulted me so I've removed them all. Based on books showing pre-war uniforms, I think these are railway security. My questions for the forum are: 1) Is that what these are? 2) Did the dude swap out buttons or are army style H&S what go on it
This is a very heavy black coat without internal markings or stamps. Buttons are all various dates in the 60's. Red piping at sleeves, collar and collar tab outline. It has a buttoned belt in the back which is not piped. He had this one tricked out with the wacky epaulets also. In this case just piping at collar tabs and sleeves but came with breeches which are black with red piping down side of leg and around front pocket. This is nicely lined but again with no markings. The buttons are a funky hollowed out plastic feeling thing but with dates all in the early sixties and show a traditional H&S. Sorry I'm not showing the whole thing. I'm having trouble getting my camera to take smaller file sizes. Same questions: Railway security? and Are these likely the original buttons? Thanks, guys! By the way: The Rail badge didn't come with it. There was a hole already that had something with a medium/small screwplate and this one fit nicely. Last edited by CtahhR; 04-16-2014 at 03:59 PM. |
