Marshal uniform - strange embroidery?

I have been offered this uniform at a fairly good price. However, the collar embroidery seems unusual compared to other uniforms within same rank levels. What do you folks think? The uniform has buttons from 1976.

Yeah, I saw that too. I've bought from the seller on numerous occasions, but some items he has seem dodgy. I don't think he is necessarily trying to fool anyone, but I don't think he's an expert on Soviet militaria. As to this particular set, I have no idea.

Yes I know him well too, we do a lot of business together. The uniform is located in Russia, but if that means Ukraine - I do not know. The embroidery on the sleeves looks OK, perhaps the collar embr. is just the result of a different, perhaps local, tailor?

According to him, uniform belonged to this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamazasp_Babadjanian

With the red background in the pic, it looks like its from a very familiar seller in ukraine...

I can't see the embroidery good enough to make a call on it, but here's my thought... During the days of the USSR, a Marshal was akin to "God on earth." Basically, they were catered to and were held in an honored position wherever they went. So, would it make sense for one of these men who have embroidery on his parade uniform that wouldn't be just like every other Marshal's uniforms and be of the same quality?

Just my thought...

Sorry, but I deal in alot of Marshals items ( those of you kwho know me know what I mean) and I would not touch this with a ten foot pole.

They are taking the the regular generals uniforms, making up "Senior Marshal" and branch 'Marshal' boards and adding them all the time. There have been so many on E its not even funny anymore. They can do this because its the highest rank they can go without having to have "marshals" embroidery; easy, and fake, upgrade.

I have been offered a few of these from sources who are not the best in the field and whom i do not do alot of business with; i like to assume they do n ot really know what they are doing.

I avoid any 1960-1980s branch marshals and senior branch marshals ( even more so!) as they just are not genuine.

OK, but apart from the fact that the shoulderboards might have been switched, the embroidery and the tunic itself might be good (being a upgraded generals uniform, the price would bee too high, but apart from that...)

Thanks for all input :)

No, I do not like the embroidery. The pattern seems copied from navy officer pattern and the edging is too far from the edge. Everything about this tunic says "stay away"; embroidery, boards, source.

Nack; you really think you have to push for Troy??? I think he might just have it locked! : )

Tretov,

I think the asking price did all the necessary talking: too little for the real thing, too much for what it really is.
