strange "fruits salad"

I bought it several years ago on E***. According to the seller, the former owner was a para major who served in East germany and Afghanistan and retired in 1991. I'm surprised by the lack of 1988 anniversary medal. An east german brotherhood medal in 3 classes did exist, why didn't he received it ?

If he was a major, wouldn't his service time be longer than 10 years? And with 10 years of service, he should proabably have gotten the 1978 anniversary award as well. I think your bar is made up from parts, I hope you did not pay a fortune.

I bought it for $15, so not a big deal. I believe that a "elite" officer could be promoted to major before 15 years of service. To me the biggest problem is the lack of the 1988 anniversary medal and the east german medals.
