What is the purpose of this document?
USSR Peoples Commissariat of Defense 927th Rifle Regiment 251st Rifle Division 26th May, 1942 Memorandum 26 Memorandum Lieutenant Avdanin, Boris Vasilevich served in the active Red Army in the 927th Rifle Regiment as the regimental commander’s adjutant. This is a memorandum for record that he could either produce to confirm identification or placed in his personnel record in the event of transfer to a new unit. Ultimately it would be compiled to reflect entire war service for pay benefits and/or provide a stipend to his family back home in the rear.

I've found these documents, which are usually overlooked, very helpful when trying to piece together a group's history. The quality and condition of them can vary immensely. Some of these issued when the Red Army was really in a bad way have stories to tell that later, often sterile award documents don't.

Another of this Officer's documents. . .
- Identification Book issued May 5th, 1942 to Lieutenant Boris Vasilevich Abdonin designated the Regimental Adjutant in the 927th Rifle Regiment (251st(?) Rifle Division) beginning 2 May 2nd, 1942.
