This example recently presented itself. Not the greatest piece nor condition but encouraging that items do keep trickling out.

The monument depicted is the Victory Arch at Paghman which was created in celebration of the war of 1919. It fell into ruins but was resurrected.

The Medal commemorates 70 years of the treaty with Britain of 28th Asad 1298 which is why the Medal is dated "1368". The 70th anniversary was 8th August 1989, 5 months and 3 weeks after the Soviet withdrawal.

With so many fake (of varying quality), unissued, abused and neglected Afghan awards out there this is probably the best example I've seen of honest heavy wear. The whole feel is quite splendid.

The remnant of ribbon on this example my be indicative of why so many Afghan awards come without the Kolodka.
