Hi Tal,
What exactly is the purpose of this miniature? Is it for a British vet who received a Soviet medal / order during WW2? (the obvious explanation I guess). Thanks

In which cases are miniatures worn instead of the real awards?

have found out where this miniature comes from. A company in England that makes full size "Copy" medals and miniatures of all British and Commonwealth awards as well as "foreign" awards.
This 40th Jubillee of Victory in GPW is what they call "Russian Convoy Medal" and the prices are Full Size £25.00 Miniature £15.00. I must say I wonder how many of these things they sell especially the Full Size one at that price!!!!!!!!! I have a couple of dozen originals I would gladly accept £25.00 each for:eek: LOL Ron |

Re: 40TH ANNIVERSARY of Victory MEDAL - British made miniature medal
Found these on eBay today.
Described as: "These medals has become know as “The Russian Arctic convoys medals” as the Soviet/Russian Government offered them to the Commonwealth (mostly British) and US ex-Servicemen who had taken part in the convoys to the USSR during 1941-1945. The Queen granted permission for these medals to be accepted and worn by eligible British citizens." # 300256388879

40 Victory
I am hoping that some kind person on the forum can help me - in virtue of his service on the Russian Convoys during WWII my Grandfather is in receipt of the 40th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War Medal. I was having a conversation with my daughter about the symbolism of the ribbons colours for the other medals he won (British WWII awards) and realised that I didn't know what, if anything, the colours on the Russian medal represented. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction, please?
Many thanks in advance, Anthony. |
