hello, this is a czech qualification badge (see traditionnal lime leaves), strictly equivalent to the soviet ones, for combined arms or something of this kind.

Hello
It's a common badge. It costs about 20 CZK (= about $1) in czech army shops. |

Qualification Badge
I'm wondering if anybody can help ID this qualification badge? It looks like it might be a cosmonaut or strategic missile badge (maybe a N-1 rocket?), but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the web.
I've included a photo of the front. It's a two-piece badge (enamel section is separate); screw back; no mint mark on the badge or screwback plate. Thanks for your assistance! |

Re: Help Identifying a Qualification Badge
I have one of those too -- I may have posted somewhere on the forum as well. I think the badge is from some Warsaw Pact country, but not the USSR. Hungary or Czech perhaps?

Re: Help Identifying a Qualification Badge
it's Czechoslovak. I belive this one's for officers of the ground forces, but I don't have any reference at hand.
btw. This is probably some older version - The one I have is aluminium (and apparently this one's not) and has a crude attaching device - just 2 sharp pieces of metal. |

Agreed ... I'm pretty certain it's Warsaw Pact as well.
I found your previous post. Nobody was 100% certain, but the consensus was probably Czech pilot wings. I still wonder why it would have the big rocket if it was for a pilot? Maybe it's just the contrail of a shooting red star:rolleyes: I'll keep digging and see what I can find. It looks like it's at least from the 70's ... too heavy to be aluminum. Since there's interest, I've posted a photo of the reverse. It also has a larger orange plastic disc so it looks nicer on the uniform ... not sure if that would have been issued with the badge or if it's just a scrap piece of plastic that a soldier added. Re: Help Identifying a Qualification Badge
Hmm, it does look like a missile. Never noticed that before. Could just be the design though. I'm interested to see what you find out....
