Links to auctions on EBay

Currently as you all know, we do not allow posting links to EBay auctions. This is done primarily because these links no longer function after a certain period of time and become worthless as far as reference material is concerned.

I am considering joining the EBay affiliate program. Ebay offers approved websites a small percentage of each sale if you buy the item via the link posted within the forum. This small amount comes from EBay's end not the sellers, it costs the seller nothing. You would not have to prepare the links in any special way, nor link to it via a special button or anything like that, the forum would do this automatically. All you would do is post your link.

The affiliate program allows me to place an RSS feed within the forum that is constantly updated with the latest items that have been placed up for auction on EBay. Of course, we being interested in all things Soviet, I could have the latest auction items displayed here for our members perusal. This would also be a benefit for those that enjoy selling on EBay, as you would be able to post links directly to your items, and enjoy the traffic to your auction this website might provide.

The classifieds program would work along the EBay affiliate stuff. Those that have paid the yearly subscription fee would be able to post on the classifieds as well as post their links to Ebay. I would create a section that will combine the new classifieds system with a discussion area and allow members to post links to EBay auctions. For ease of use, all EBay related talk would go into this one group.

If anyone wants to read more about this program, you can do so here. I've studied this program carefully. If I didn't feel it added value to the forum I wouldn't pursue it any further. So, please vote.

Simply:

Yes: We should go through with this and finally allow EBay auction links and the EBay RSS feed within the forum.

No: Directly the opposite of the above. No links, continue the forum as we are doing now.
