Bill,
Why start a second thread when you already have one going with this exact same badge? Marc |

Bill, these badges are exceedingly rare and most haven't seen a real one. I've seen 3 or 4 of them, but no earlier than 10 years ago. Even then, I'd like to handle your badge to give you an opinion.

Re: Volhynia Life-Guard Regmnt
Lapa,
Sorry about the repost but I figured I had it in the wrong place after reading more about the forums. Also I figured that since I had not gotten any responces since I posted the back. I must be in the wrong forum. These photos are larger and better resolution. Still getting my footing. Any assistance in helping me understand better is greatly appreciated. Desanik, I picked this up in the early to mid '90s from someone I felt was quite reputable. I picked it up beacuse it was exceptionally interesting. If you are ever in the Virginia Beach, VA area, I would love showing it to you and getting your opinion. You have been a great deal of help already. Regards, BillT |

Well, from what I gather, this is a fake:thumbsdown, however I prefer to call it a reproduction:thumbsup. (Delusional) The dollar bite does not seem so painfull when I think of it that way.
Does this have a place in a collection or should I back over it with my car? All in all it is a very nice piece, well made and is very impressive to look at. Maybe someone out there can give me some idea on how I might better educate myself. What are the give-aways on this badge that differ from an original for such an obscure badge? Are they obvious or is it in the details. How many originals were produced? Has anyone seen other "Reproductions"? Any, any, any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Ah the joys of Collecting!!!!!!:laff (hysterical and insane) Regards, Bill Last edited by CtahhR; 10-09-2015 at 08:44 AM. |

Bill,
In my book it's a fake. Reproductions don't have fake traces of wear or fake patina. Alexei |

Can anyone elaborate on these questions?

Re: Volhynia Life-Guard Regmnt
Bill,
I apologize for not responding to your question sooner. About the badge - I have no idea how many of them were made, but it is rare. Yours is not a reproduction, but a fake, because it was made to deceive. If you need to know details you need to provide better pictures. My assesment was based on the number "27" located on the shield. The shape of those digits differs from what was observed on genuine badges. Alexei |
