Kvirkvelija, Georgij Davidovich, Railway Engineer, Safety Inspector, Batumi

Here is a rather subtle group to Georgij Davidovich Kvirkvelija. It seems that he spent his entire career working on the Trans-Caucasus Railway in the area of the port of Batumi.

The first document dates from 1937 and is "Document Of Completion Of Courses In Advanced Qualification In Command Staff Of Rail Transport" during the course Kvirkvelija scored "excellent" in each category. Strangely enough he is also wearing white in the photograph. Why do all the train engineers love wearing white?

The second document is his Medal ''For Valiant Labour During The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945'' which was issued to him by Batumi on 10th July 1946

The third document is a newly renamed "Ministry Of Lines Of Communication" identification which shows him in the military type uniform and also lists his rank as "Engineer-Lieutenant Of Trains"

The fourth document is 1985 dated Ministry Of Lines Of Communication identification for "Rolling Stock Affairs Of Batumi" which lists his title as "Safety Inspector Of Rolling Stock"

The fifth document is an undated (but obviously 1980's) Komsomol Veteran identification.

50 years on the trains... he should have a "Veteran Of Labour" out there somewhere.

Thank you very much. I am quite amazed at how well things are going on the reuniting side of things. I think we are going to be hearing some very happy endings.

In truth this Kvirkvelija document group has been ever since it was first posted on the marketplace my very favourite document group. I don't know why. They are heavily worn and individually rather insignificant but having those 4 booklets just really does it for me. Sometimes it is the simple things in life.
