Medal "For The Liberation Of Prague" Congratulary Certificate.

Here is a temporary certificate to the Medal "For The Capture Of Prague" awarded to Starshina Vjacheslav Iosifovich Gurbenko by the Political Section of the 31st Army. After putting Gurbenko's name into the "site" it came up that he was awarded a Medal "For Combat Merits" in June 1945 (which I don't have) and it lists his position as "House Artist Of The Red Army". Seeing his citation is also handwritten quite artistically I'm not able to translate it myself but never-the-less it seems like a fairly obscure position to hold.

Any idea what the word is under the stamp? Выдана на _____ получения etc. This is not a temporary award certificate; there were only permanent certificates for campaign medals. It's just some document confirming he served with the Political Section of the 31st Army, participated in the liberation of Prague and was issued the Medal for the Liberation of Prague.

Prodist? The stamp has done a very good job of obscuring it.

Sorry to be stupid, but, "Auke", I'm not quite sure what you are saying about "temporary certificates"? Please see http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...-trifecta.html and help me understand.

It's my real name, you can leave out the quotation marks :)

Regarding your group: the first document is simply a certificate of gratitude for his participation in the liberation of Belgrade, and the second one confirms his service with the 233rd Rifle Division in the period mentioned, making him eligible for the medal for the Capture of Belgrade. There's no such thing as a "temporary certificate" for a campaign medal, as existed for orders and the BM-CMM-UM-NM quartet. Campaign medals were always issued with the permanent document (like the one you showed in the Belgrade topic).

Fine. So many people use pseudonyms (like me, and for complex reasons), that you never know. Thanks for looking and helping. Still, I think it is a nice trio (of paper, as posted over there). Not to mention the group.

Maybe it's semantics, but this document fits the perfect description of a temporary document.

I'd say it's more than semantics... This document wasn't accompanied by a medal, only the permanent certificate was.

To play word games: "preliminary certificate"?
