Died and gone to heaven
How things have changed. Several years back, these goodies (and other lesser goodies in the sacks behind) were on offer in UB. Sharp eyes will see some real gems.
Those were the days . . . . |

Re: Died and gone to heaven
The question comes to mind that how did all those items get into the same dealer's hands? Brains, connections or luck?

Re: Died and gone to heaven
Sounds like Brains plus luck to me. I'm sure they still weren't "given away" first come first served.

Re: Died and gone to heaven
I'll go 4 7 and 9.... What sort of prices did this dealer pay when he had been standing in line? A proper "public" price or a nice backhander?

Re: Died and gone to heaven
OK, and this may be an individual value judgment, pick the three (3) rarest items here.

Although actually my curiosity is also about nr 10 on right hand in back - could have an interesting story behind it:) Difficult to judge this rarity... especially taking into account that many more were probably awarded than currently circulated (e.g. for the type 1 Polar Star). Regret not acquiring 1-2 more of the pre 1940 awards when I had the chance and they were still reasonably priced, but will treasure the one that I do have. A dealer in Berlin has had 2 for sale for many many years but at a price level which leaves something to be desired. |

Re: Died and gone to heaven
My pick is 8-1-3 (although 7 and 9 would probably be close contenders)
