National Military Academy Badge.
Picked this up recently. A late model Military Academy badge. This would be worn, above the right pocket, by senior officers upon completion of studies at the National Military Academy. Bronze and enamel with a full closure pin back.

Re: Romanian Academy Badge
The badge as worn by General Colonel Milea Vasile, the last Defense Minister of the RSR.

Re: Romanian Academy Badge
A mean looking chap. But I noticed the lapel insignia is like the ones you mentioned (gold I suppose instead of silver) in the Securitat posts. Great photo.

Re: Romanian Academy Badge
I was finally able to get one of these; an RPR Academy badge. This is a type 2 badge (still looking for a type 1). Same size as the RSR badge, but numbered and with a screw back. I believe the nut is not original to the piece, although it is Romanian and fits perfectly.

Re: Romanian Academy Badge
Phil,
Yes, he is a mean looking chap... although he committed suicide in December of '89 as things were "going south"- his blood soaked uniform is on display in a museum in Bucharest. Gives me the "willies" every time I see an image of it. Yes, the collar insignia is gold plated. The only organization that wore silver plated collar insignia was the Militia (Police).

Re: Romanian Academy Badge
Somehow, a "blood soaked uniform" in a Bucharest museum is not surprising.
