Unusual M1943 Major's Tunic

This is an odd M1943...material and lining, not to mention the very strange (unique?) boards...1945-46 German made? Maybe. Fake? Maybe (though I do not think so). Made for theater? Possible, but very tough to tell and I do not see a theater inventory stamp ( though the photos are not great). Each of us can draw our own conclusions!

hi serg,

glad you are enjoying the forum!

i agree, i like odd or unusual items as well,
even though there are those out there that claim that all things that do not fully conform to regulations are 'fake' ! Still not sure how I feel about this tunic though...

Re: Unusual M1943 Major's Tunic

well i know from my service time in the royal dutch army,
that uniforms are great they only have one big drawback, they do so look a like.
i there for did some minor confersions.
When i got promoted to sergeant i did some bigger stuff that i could pull off than.

so i guess there were some people gambling with there lives in the russian army that did the same.

i just love the things to be a little wierd or just not regulair, ant that doesnt make it fake at all to me.
especialy in the soviet because there building and constructing standarts were more of the order, why use any thing you have to order if we already have this leing around.

The piping just doesn't look right on the epaulets. On the other hand, custom bullion embroidered boards might be custom from the ground up. I'm sure there's a story in there somewhere.

I would believe in theatre, but it is hard to tell from the pictures only. I dont think it is a fake, the embroidered shoulderboards must be much harder to make than just putting a metal star and artillery insignias there.

Is there wear/dirt around the collar on the middle pic?
