Sergeant Matskevich, I, S was in the position of Company Starshina, 276th Rifle Regiment, 37th Rifle Division, 47th Army, Crimean Front taking active participation in the fight with German invaders from May 1942 to 11th September 1942 and in the fight near the city of Novorossijsk was seriously wounded by shrapnel in both legs, as a result the right leg lost normal movement.
