Guards Lieutenant Starchenko, in difficult combat situations with the advancing battery gave direct fire, which provided timely fire on the enemy their goal and destroyed the enemy fire points.

In the offensive battle for Vorotkovo Comrade Starchenko destroyed one gun with direct fire on the enemy and a machinegun.

11th-12 February 1944 in the region of Chernobaiha and Ivantsovo, fire of the 1st battery under the command of Starchenko destroyed one enemy machinegun and a direct hit to smash an ammunition warehouse, destroying within 20 German Soldiers and Officers.

Comrade Starchenko for showing bravery, high mastery of artillery is worthy of the governmental award Order "Red Star".

His Medal "For Valiant Labour During The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" was awarded by the Stalinsk Region on 13th September 1947. Most likely for pre-enlistment service to the nation.
