Filjachenko, Nikolaj Vasili'evich, Guards Captain, 49th Guards Mortar Regiment
Hi all!
Today my new purchase arrived. It's a beautiful uniform with the medals attached. Can anybody tell me more about this uniform. Things like rank etc. I'm planning on having the medals researched :) |

As you can see, the officer was awarded a polish medal too. Don't know where it was for but if I'm not mistaken, the award paper is signed by a high ranking polish officer named Zymierski...
Btw, does anybody know what the ribbon means underneath the red star? It looks like an order of glory ribbon without the medal... |

Wow you've got a really awesome Navy captain 2nd rank here. Could you post more pics of the dagger, also with factory stamp?

Actually, this is either a marine infantry or coastal artillery uniform, in the rank of Podpolkovnik (the lack of crossed cannons on the boards points to the former option). Marc Quote:
IMHO, you are applying a very strange standard here. Even if the uniform and rack belong to each other, there is no guaranty that the expensive medals were not switched for some replicas. The only way to tell for sure about the genuineness of each item is to have a good look at each one of them (hint ). As to the dagger, it is the earlier version without blade-locking button :thumbsup Marc |

Indeed, close ups, close ups and more close ups!
What are the numbers on the Red star and OPW's? Tom Quote:
Does this line up with the rank of Senior Lieutenant mentioned in your post? (at least i think that's what Podpolkovnik means :o) Any mention of this guy on Podvig?? |

Re: My newest purchase, a naval uniform.
Ironically, if they are real, the defense of Odessa and Sevastapol medals may be worth more than the rest of the uniform put together. My comfort with the uniform truly matching the medals and orders would actually hinge on the dagger. If it is a wartime date, it lends credibility to the whole thing. If it is messed with or has a 70's date, I would be afraid it was put together and would have reservations about the genuineness of the defense medals. At least the crest on the hilt looks right
