Gold Star "Hero Of The Soviet Union".
This one is offered for sale with COA from PMD.
Have you saw such wear on a star?

I know the seller, i think he's perfectly reliable, as of PMD COA; but it is true that this photo shows an impressive using (?); the edges are smoothened, and the ring...With my little (very) experience and the advices of PMD book I wouldn't dare buy it. Those who had the chance to travel and see veterans, did you believe the honourable soviet grandpas wore their decos such used, without cleaning? (evident for common medal, but for a prestigious HSU?

Tal,
Makes me wonder is the suspension was replaced, it looks too brand new compared with the Star. Also looks like the link was cut. Alexei-the-resident-skeptic |

I have a question though...
How would a man get a suspension like this? Was it something that was given with the second star? I assume that this was mint made!?! Thanks, Rusty.

You'll be looking at $25-$30K for the pair. Of course, I've only gotten to 'fondle' one original set, which was quite an experience!!! I was offered a 'wearing copy' set from a very reputable dealer, the pair had originally belonged to a MSU, and the dealer had personally watched the marshal's son take them off his everyday uniform. Price? Somewhere around 'half' of that for a real set. :) --Dave |

# of Gold Star - General Shepetov ??
Dear friends!
Would you be so kind to help me with the information? Unfortunately I do not have the excellent list of Heroes :( Do you know the number of the Gold Star awarded to General -Major Shepetov I.M. on the 9th of November 1941? Lately this Star used by fascist spy major Tavrin (Politov) - a famous story. Thanks a lot! Alex |
