Dolf,
This is the first variation of this order. It was established on October 29, 1985 and was awarded to military and State security personnel mostly for personal bravery. It was also awarded to military units. In 1987 the design of the State crest was changed. Alexei |

My sample's reverse looks identical to yours, i.e. no mm, SN, similar post, etc. so that would make it "normal".

Desantnik,
I guess that as for those two Orders of Stars posted on another thread on this section, this Order of Gallantry is also from Type 2 (no open book), is that correct? Same production dates for this Order as for those Stars you mention on that other thread? Please confirm. Thanks, Dolf |

Gentlemen,
Here is another one of these, I guess it's a different Type and/or Variation. I need to know the average current prices, please. Here is the reverse of the piece I posted above. As you see there is nothing that would help to identify this piece, no MM, no S/N... Is this normal? Please give me a hint of a reasonable price for this piece. Thanks a lot, Dolf |

I finally manage to get mine (65 euro on e***, a good deal). 1st type (1985-87). Soviet made, very high quality, fine details, hot enamel. Numbered (1371, if I'm right), apparently 2nd type are not numbered.
The doc that came with. If someone can translate... |

Better view of the averse without dust.
Front of the doc. Notice the afghan order of gallantry beside the soviet red star. |

Re: Order of Gallantry
A quick comparison: Type 1, Type 2, and their big brother.
The order was revised, redesigned, and reintroduced in 2004. And here's a poor-quality image of it. Many of the PDRA awards have been brought back, with changes in design as needed. |
