Individual Border Guard Unit Badges.
And then there are the confusing badges of various numbered border guard units. Unfortunately, in most cases, all we know are the numbers of the units. There seems to be no end to these. Some are obviously anniversary badges while others seem to be service badges.
I give just three examples. These are the mere tip of the iceberg. 80 Years of Unit 016, 1923-2003 Obviously, this unit has been awarded both the Order of the Red Banner of Combat Valor, and Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor. Not in Battushig. Unit 0101 Helpefully, this one tells us (in English!) that Unit 0101 is the Immigration Office. And you see uniformed folks at the airport wearing this one. Battushig E22. Unit 0151 All we know is that they got the Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor. Not in Battushig (he just gives a sampling of these). Last edited by CtahhR; 09-21-2011 at 07:37 AM. |

Re: Border Guard Badges
I don't recall (probably because it isn't mentioned in many places) if the border guard was formed at the same time the Soviets created the "Cheka" state security service in Mongolia? Or, was it a natural division that was carved out of the army?
Thank you for posting these.:thumbsup I've seen a number of the badges in the first page of this thread, but had no idea about the varieties or when they were issued. Documents are always a nice touch, too.:) Phillip
