Russian M31 back pack

Hi,

I just got this Russian M1938 back pack. It is a fresh find from a barn in Poland. It looks like it could use a little cleaning as it is filthy. Is there any way I could get the stains off the cloth and the rust off the metal parts? I am not sure what the best method would be.
