Yes, I am sure this kind of general's cap never existed. Generals of the air force had the same cap as their fellows. At least the 1957, the 1975 and the 1987 regulations don't mention a cap for air force generals.

As I said, the book contains some inacurate information, so improper dating is no surprise. However, are You sure the generl's cap did not exist? There may be a mistake made by the illustrator, however, I have found out that at least some pictures were made on a base of original photographs, and I thig it would apply to all of them, but as I said - the "artist" could have made some mistakes.

As for the photograph - I have made a mistake, sorry - it's 1974, at least that what's printed on the back of the picture, and since it's an official foto, it is ulikely that the date is wrong.
