Dolf,
You really seem to like your Sub Badges and pins so I can maybe recommend this book. I haven't got a copy but this must be a great help to you if you can get a copy. Please see this thread: http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...9132#post29132 Post #9 On the left side of your pic are Top to Bottom: Delta Typhoon (Akula) Typhoon class PLARB - Nuclear Powered Ballistic Missile Submarine Delta IV - BDRM Del'fin (Delta IV class) PLARB - Nuclear Powered Ballistic Missile Submarine On the right side of your pic are Top to Bottom: SS-406 Typhoon SS-251 Delta SS-007 Yankee Type 1 ; 4th Squadron it is said that it was the first Sub to visit the UK. These badges are Post-Soviet and I have seen them on a site being sold for $ 10,00 a piece Eddie.

CO's badges
Post 10 contains photos of the different types of badges issued to Surface Ship and Submarine Commanding Officers. The silver (bottom) are issued to the CO's of ships and subs; the gilt (top) are issued to commanders of groups of ships or subs (Captians 1st rank and admirals).

Thanks a lot K3.
I have a couple of variations (?) of each, either with a flat back or with a concave back. Does this means something? Thanks. Dolf Last edited by Dolf; 06-19-2004 at 02:16 AM. |

CO badge variations
I'm not aware of any significance to any variations in manufacture of these badges (other than gilt/silver). Maybe someone else may have some insight?

Badges Commander of subs and ships
Hello,
here is a comparison of the pins of the reverse of the ship commanders badges. The ship badges are made out of "german silver". 2 backsides of original bades from a dealer side and two of most likely fakes I think? Very cheap sold on the flea market. regrads Andreas here are the good one´s Last edited by Alfred; 06-19-2004 at 02:59 PM. |

and here one of the cheap bades
bought on the flea market.
I think the pins are made out of normal screws. |
