Re: Leningrad Front KK Translation
I can't fully say this, but the letters to me might point to "mechanized." If so, there was a 48th Mechanized Brigade in 41st Army that I think was operating in the area between roughly Tver and Leningrad in '43. Maybe you can pull an order of battle and see if it is plausible.
"Mechanized" is pretty much by definition also infantry, so I could see a "48th Independent Mechanized Rifle Brigade." If it isn't that, then it's an honorific. But... I'm leaning towards "mechanized." |

Translate 1944 booklet, Help
I've had this booklet a long time. Just found it looking through my junk box.
I tried translating, but get lost with the Russian language. I think its some kind of Hunting Club dues booklet. Am I close? |

Re: Translate 1944 booklet, Help
And his 25 Rubles paid for the license for one year (until August 12, 1948) as shown by the stamp in the third photo. I also suppose these allowed the owner to buy shotgun shells (individually, if I remember correctly) and at that time possibly rifle cartridges as well.
I get that he is "Sergei Sergeiv(ich)" but I always forget what that first letter of his familiy name is in Russian script. Phillip

Re: Translation Help
He was also awarded the medal "for Combat Service" and the ORS (as I'm sure you guessed.
I am having trouble with the dates. The first one looks like either 1943 or an unfinished 8 in 1948. What makes it more difficult to be sure is that the way the next date is written, it is also ambiguous and both would be subsequent to the first date; e.g., if 1948 is correct, then 1949 would be right, and if 1943 is the correct reading, then 1944 would be the subsequent year when he was issued his booklet. Phillip:B) - Don't ask. I just look for excuses to put this one in from time to time.:D
