Extremely impressive! You must be very proud of that collection.

This is the nearly final setup for these orders and medals. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. For the most part, they follow the last Soviet regulations regarding which order medals and orders were to be worn (except the GPW Order II got turned sideways and I didn't notice until now). Aside from the "walking out" HSU star, there is only one other reproduction on the board and it's just there to hold the spot for the real one when I get it (try to spot it for fun - but it's not the Medal for Strenghtening Milt Coop; the ribbon is just on it backwards). Which brings me to another question: if the displays are about the historical significance of the item, should good reproductions be used for the purpose of education? For example, I have a reasonably good reproductions of the OL and the Order for Courage - neither of which do I believe I will be getting my hands on for real anytime soon - but they "belong" to the historically important aspect to learning; however, I still feel like I need to point out the few reproductions to people looking at this set, if I put the OL, HSL and Order for Courage in). Should the labor medals be replaced with the original grey military veteran and the standard "Veteran of Labor" medal or even perhaps the medal for the 50th anniversary of the militia? ?
Any and all input will be appreciated. This first shdow box is the closest I've come to finfinishing one so far. They will also have a little more room from left to right - I just needed them that close for the photos. I have a thick skin and take criticism well, and also bask happily in praise, so feel free to say what you think you would do (or not do) with what you see. Remember, nothing is pinned on or screwed in place yet and two layers of sheer "wave green" material are going to go over the black background to mimic the parade uniform colors as best as possible. There will be separate boxes for WWII through Afghanistan War medals as well as for labor medals and badges. A small royal blue backed one for KGB-related badges/medals/tables medals, etc. and a forest green backed one for border guard badges, et. al. Many thanks in advance to anyone who responds in anyway at all, Phillip P.S. I'll be putting all those order numbers in the data base when I'm done with this post as well as the numbers on medals (and a few duplicate orders) I have in a binder right now. Quote:
Thanks,

Re: How to display Soviet awards
Nice displays gentlemen. Perhaps some sort of identification tag below the awards? I have always been one to show off my awards on the wall so I always have a write up or name the award, just in case I'm not around when someone is admiring them
