Here is an interesting veterans' badge, awarded for the All Union Congress of Military and Labour Veterans. My guess is that it was given to those who attended the congress, as the reverse is numbered.I remember reading somewhere else in the forum that the congress was held in Minsk. Any ideas on the year?

All-Union Organisation Of Veterans Of War And Labour
Has anyone seen a similar type badge and how rare is it? I don't remember having seen one like this and this particular piece is serial-numbered #3310. It is of "heavy" manufacturing.
Its composition and suspension seems to evoke the 25th Anniversary of the Victory in the GPW badge issued in 1970. |

I agree - the suspension in particular is very similar in design.

Re: All-Union Organization of Veterans of War and Labor
The only time I've seen a smooth, slightly raised area for serial numbers like this one as well as the 'N' before it has been on post-Soviet items. This is not to say that this particular badge is post-1991, but it certainly makes me think it is.
The design of the medallion with the unfurled flag and pentagonal shape (minus the star points) is very close to the 25th ann. badge. Is that a bayonet, a '4' or what at the end of the sickle? The style of the H&S reminds me of items from the 70s-80s, which only makes me wonder more. Phillip

"Honour Badge All-Union Soviet Of War And Labour Veterans".
This posting was inspired by the doc for this type of badge listed by Desantnik in the Marketplace.
This is a quality heavy brass badge. I especially like the suspension, which borrows from the veteran badge "25th Anniversary of GPW" but now features both War and Labor ribbons. Serial number is engraved, very nice. :thumbsup I only don't particularly care for the design of the medallion, it features that Soviet Modernist style of the post-Brezhnev era, which doesn't seem to hold up today. |

Thanks CtahhR for moving this to the right thread. :thumbsup
Here's the post-Soviet version btw, IRC it's from the early 90s--therefore the unfortunate mish-mash of Soviet and Republican symbols.. |
