what are you talking about? the first pic? it shows a standart but nice papakha of a colonel, the top is dark grey with a golden galon. The KGB blue is a deep nice blue (royal blue, we've the equivalent in France called "bleu de France", old reminiscence from the kingdom). And a KGB general papakha is I think still an open question...in which I wouldn't go even if I had the money!

KGB Generals cap...

NOT! I am not sure where you are getting your info, but this is late soviet army officer (senior). Typical officers badge and hat coloring.

But isn´t the top "bleu de France"? I guess I´ll better buy glasses instead of soviet stuff...
I insist in the royal blue top point.

Top..

..of the hat is field grey, not blue. These are really common.

also, its got an officers, not generals, cap badge.

Dangers of using a photo. Believe me I have photographed a lot of KGB stuff. It is hard to tell from just a photo sometimes. But it is clear that this is the grey colonels papkha with white-centred officer cap badge. The "KGB" papakha usually photographs much darker, almost black unless close up with tungsten flash when it shows bright royal blue.

As for the genineness of the KGB papakha... the modern ones are fakes but genuine royal blue topped ones exist from the 1940s used by generals of the NKVD, NKGB and MGB. Very rare, show signs of age and have older style cap badges.
