Re: Consecutive Type 2 Polar Stars!
To me it's about the fun aspect of scoring a consecutive "hit." I think the Mongolia awards are the most beautiful made by Mondvor. Of course I do wish research were available...maybe some day.
I recall the consecutive Sukhbataars at the recent NY Sale auction, I believe Russia forums said they were from reserve/unused stocks that were stolen? I thought this was an interesting (though biased) perspective, in Russian: Аукцион Маркова - игра в напёрстки? | Red Medal George |

Re: Consecutive Type 2 Polar Stars!
Interesting, I was once offered (and what today would seem as a very -- laughably -- low price) a "hand of four", four consecutively numbered Polar Stars. Not late issued and quite kosher. I assumed they were a "by bureaucratic accident" unissued block flushed (not "stolen", just sold, there is a contemporary price list that would make strong men weep) out of the bank and didn't pay them much attention. But my interests are different from those of some.

..and here's a photo of the twins side by side. The wife doesn't understand why I like to photograph the awards.

Very very nice.
Don't forget to also take pictures of the wife... Then you should have all your bases covered.

I have to admit that I am kicking myself because I too thought about purchasing both of those Polar Stars when they were available. If I had though, I might not had the opportunity to reunite them as you had. Well done! Quote:
I tried to be patient, but have noticed fewer and fewer of these coming on the market of late. Therefore, when I saw this Polar Star for sale I pounced on it. It is a T2V2 that is in excellent condition with a serial number of #1608. While it does have a shortened screwpost, I think it just adds character. Enjoy!:D |

Re: "Polar Star" Order.
Another Order of Polar Star, 3th var post 1941, my question for you is: how is possible the low number (162) in this variation? order looks correct and no modified, maybe a duplication for a early lost or damaged award?
If you want more detailed photos, just let me know it! :thumbsup |

Re: "Polar Star" Order.
Polar Stars type 2 and 3 were numbered starting from 1 again, so there's nothing out of the ordinary about this piece. It was probably awarded in 1946.
