Short, concrete description of the personal combat feat or merits:

Comrade Derno has been participating in the Patriotic War since April 27, 1944. He is a disciplined and diligent soldier. With a deep feeling of hatred toward the enemy he fought for the liberation of the socialist motherland from the German occupants.

During the fighting on July 7 and 8, 1944 on the approaches toward the city of Baranovichi, he supported the advance of the infantry with machine gun fire. Being located among the infantry formations the entire time, disregarding the danger, he was the first to attack the enemy and, without ceasing firing, was the first to burst into the enemy trenches. Continuing to pursue the enemy he killed seven German soldiers.

During offensive combat he also acted bravely, persistently and decisively.

He deserves the Order of Glory, 3rd Class.
