Re: Voso commandant had M69
Any idea for howmuch those caps were sold ?(dougd)?
I just love trains and that makes this cap more and more appealing to me. It is a stunning cap, red army with a full red top, how cool. It is not that i have to see a cap in use, but i would really like to see one once.

Re: Voso commandant had M69
I just bought my self this cap.
As you all know, i always waned one of these and hat much problems with it. The first i bought was a fake and already expensive if it would have been real. The second got lost in the mail some where in France, i got refund. This is my 3th try to get one of these. I know the cord is wrong on it. I doubt about the badges. Let me know anything that will help.

Re: Voso commandant had M69
When it was introduced in the m69 uniform reforms the VOSO commandant's retained the red top but lost their special light blue pipping.
To my knowledge it was never green, that was only for "normal" railway personnel.

Re: Voso commandant had M69
Badges indicate it's a railroad service, but civilian. I find it possible that station commandants in the civil Railway used same caps, so it can be original as it is.

I'm pretty sure I've seen the winged wheel on the crown of others before. The pins could be all right. If in doubt you could also email Randall at Under the Red Star. He's been very helpful to me in the past.

Re: Voso commandant had M69
Finelly i have one of these caps.
It just came in with the mail today. It has a few moth holes that i didnt know of, but nothing to bad. The cockade seem to have been there for a little time, but there are some markings of an army officer cockade that one was there. I love the way velvet will retain impressions over time. The crown wing looks to have been there about the same duration the cockade has. thank god there was no hole made in the fabric, the seam was losend and the badge was stuck through the seam opening. Happily something that can be fixed easily if i would get rid of the badge there. The cap is all original en dated 1977 size 59. I have never seen an cap as this one with a crown badge, as they did before m69 commonly. About the cord, it seems to be the well known m90 yellow one at first sight. When you look closer it is very similar to the yellow m90 ones in all aspects except that it is made of goldwire as the proper officer cord would be. it has some good patina to it, it is atleast 30 years old or so. Any thought on fixing this one up? - new cord ? - army officer cockade - get rid of the crown wing? or not ?
