Re: Russian Transport Lines Officer's Cap
Summer KGB cap recycled into a RTL cap?
I have no idea, but it is a beautifully made hat. |

Re: Russian Transport Lines Officer's Cap
could be color wise ya ,, but i have never ever heard of a summer KGB cap.
it is indeed the most beautifully made cap i have ever had. more than general 70's caps, i think the leather inside may be ostrich leather. i'm not sure but is has the smell and nearly the same grain. i would love to pin this cap down. i emailed the company of RTL to ask them , but it has been a wail now and no response. |

Re: Russian Transport Lines Officer's Cap
This cap looks alot like one I have. Mine is a 1992 transitional militia cap with the same blue/white color combination. Apparently after the collapse they split the red police-militia and the blue legal/admin-militia branches when it came to caps. The cover is the white summer removable-type and the visor, buttons, and interior are soviet-style. The latter features (especially the blue piping on yours) are big differences, but the color scheme is about the same. Maybe yours is a Russian Fed legal/admin militia cap? Hopefully this helps.

the cap you showed i have seen before. it was up on this forum a little wail ago, at that point nobody really knew what is was for. they are still some times offered and alwas with the ordinary militia soviet cocade. color wise it would be the same. so it could be some highend summer cap of the FSB i guess. but i have never seen a summer cap with piping and a non removeble top. nor of sutch fine and expencive construction. maybe a privet puchaged one by a high officer? maybe even general but it seems to have no hole in the band for a cocade to pin through. so that could not have been there? ser-g |

Re: Russian Transport Lines Officer's Cap
Perhaps it is a custom?
I've heard of officers in both Soviet and Russian armed forces who get their hats custom made by tailors or milliners. I would not be surprised if this is what it is. Such a pretty hat. |

Re: Russian Transport Lines Officer's Cap
Let's bring this one up, maybe after 3 years anyone has a new look on it.
Im still stuck on a maybe for FSB cap. But still no defined as to what it if for. Maybe a Cossack had is one of my theories. Who has a new view or information to support an existing view on this cap?

Re: Russian Transport Lines Officer's Cap
It was dicussed somewhere on this forum. Somewhere in 1991 militia made a uniform reform. The investigation department got royal blue color for insignia and cap bands and piping and at the same time they kept militia uniform color, while the rest of the militia continued to use the red color.

My understanding from that threat was that they had removable covers and no pimping on the white topped cap.
