Re: Patriotic War II,0001993,Mechanic Driver,150th Tank Battalion
Nice piece!
It seems that someone up the chain of command thought his deeds to be more worthy of an OPW2 than a red star so the recommendation was overturned as it were. Im not sure if it was a upgrade or downgrade though (or sideways). The blacked out part i believe will be the address of the awardee, it seems to be common on some archival documents that I've seen for this to be done. Tom |

Re: Patriotic War II,0001993,Mechanic Driver,150th Tank Battalion
The blacked out area is the recipient's address. All podvignaroda documents now have the address removed. Originally they included all home address but they later decided to edit out address due to the fact that some of the recipients will still live at the same address and it could be seen as an invasion of privacy.
I do have a few (handful) of citations from podvignaroda that contain the address but it is not an integral part of the citation to me. Order "Patriotic War" is an upgrade from "Red Star".
