Re: Dating Screwplates

Not really related to the "dating" discussion, but since this topic has caused people to squint closely at screwplates, I hope this question doesn't draw us off topic:

On Mongolian awards, screwplates that bear evidence on the reverse of being recycled gallantry or combat service medals occasionally appear. One example shown. Is this seen on Soviet awards as well?

I am sure that everything concerning the screwplates is important.
Even Soviet productions for Yugoslavia, for example.

I'm not sure they are wrong. Can you show us a picture of both sides of the upper left screwplate.

I seem to recall part of a thread, a few years back, where Alexei mentioned that was the case. And I think I have, or had, a Guards or Excellent badge that had a recycled plate as well.
It's almost like getting two medals for the price of one. :chuckle

Auke,
Even this model is smooth, it has no dimples on the back
One of those, of which I would like to know about dating. (MZPP)

Re: Dating Screwplates

Just as I said.....

It leaves the question.... Where are the Orders? Probably recycled... Although this type of screw was mainly used on the 1968 brass Commemorative Order.
