NKVD File On Konstantin Aleksandrovich Mahnovskij.

Hey all,

I wanted to take the opportunity to post one of my favorite items from my collection. It is a complete NKVD arrest file for the unfortunate Constantine Alexadrovich Makhnovski. The file is stamped "Secret" and is dated from October 1941. The file even contains his handwritten confession, which tells a very sad story. I've never seen the like of it before and was curious if anyone else has. Forgive the bad pics, my talents are not in photography!

They do come up from time to time. This one - GSSR NKVD File resulted in the death penalty.

One reason I like this item so much is that it kind of grounds me. Orders and medals are beautiful and celebrate the heroic acts, propaganda posters and banners are artistic and stylish in their own way. It is easy to get caught up in such things. But that is just the smiling face of the regime which hides its brutal heart. Documents like this show the truth off the regime, that it was built on the needless suffering and oppression of brave men like Constantine Alexadrovich.

I'm a natural born collector (although many would say hoarder). It's not that I've been seeking such items but I don't say No when someone asks me if I want one for the right price. I think all of these items entered the collection in 2012. The Berija autographed items were a bit more pricey than the usual paper bits. If I knew where I'd put them I'd dig them out and have a good look at them.

I'll translate the whole text of the file one day.

Berija autographs! If they were in my collection I would know where they are! That is an amazing find.
