Re: Researching Red Army/Navy Units
The book "Армия, которую предали. Трагедия 33-й армии генерала М. Г. Ефремова." by Sergej Meheenkov should fill in all the blanks about the 1334th Rifle "Konigsberg" Regiment. Currently available as an e-book for about $2.

Re: Researching Red Army/Navy Units
Now I've been doing a bit of research (as always) for an upcoming project and today I was trying to search the Memorial site for non-armed services GUGB/NKGB service personnel that were KIA/MIA by name. Not a single person I searched for showed up. I don't know if these guys are yet to be added or they are not listed as they were not "armed" or because they were "GB" but they simply were not there.
Has anyone else found at any time any records on the Memorial site for fallen GUGB/NKGB service personnel (armed or otherwise)?

Shnaydemyulskoy Group
Evening all,
I have been researching a Red Star belonging to an OBK3 recipient. The Red Star citation mentions that on 17 February, 1945, his actions prevented the enemy from breaking through to their main forces from the surrounded Shnaydemyulskoy (шнайдемюльской) Group. Any clues as to what the Shnaydemyulskoy group was and where it was located - and why it was called this? The only thing I have been able to find on the internet is a vague reference to the Shnaydemyulskoy Group in a translation of Marshall Zhukov's reminiscences. If it helps, my man was a platoon commander in the 68th Guards Order of Alexander Nevsky Rifle Regiment, 23rd Guards Red Banner Rifle Division, 3rd Shock Army. He won his OBK3 for his part in the capture of Gollnow in Pomerania and participating in the breakthrough across the Oder in January 1945. Thanks Guys. |

Schneidemühl
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi%C5%82a A location in Pomerania Schneidemühl Group would be the group of German forces in that location. |

Re: Researching Red Army/Navy Units
Thanks for that. It makes sense and is in the ballpark geographically speaking.
