Red Army Soldier Petrenko directly participated in the Great Patriotic War since 1944.
In battle with German-Fascist invaders showed himself to be a bold and valorous fighter. Whilst performing combat duties on 8th March 1944 was wounded. Having recovered was sent to forward positions.

5th August 1944 in the Carpathians whilst breaking enemy defences received a second wound.

12th January 1945 during the offensive on the Sandomierz bridgehead was again wounded and was directed to hospital to recover.

Throughout all his combat service at the front of the Great Patriotic War, Red Army Soldier Petrenko was a disciplined and executive fighter.

For exemplary performance of the tasks of command at the front of the Great Patriotic War that resulted in him receiving 3 wounds, Red Army Soldier Petrenko is worthy of the governmental award Red Star.
