Re: Unresearchable Awards List

I have had many "no result" returns for Red Stars this year. I even had a "no" on a "For Bravery" - only for it to turn to a "yes" a few weeks later - with an even cheaper researcher!

Re: Unresearchable Awards List

I only just acquired a Red Star with a 3.8mil serial number. Research gave no results. But are you saying that other researchers might find more info? Wouldn't all researchers go to the same archive?

Re: Unresearchable Awards List

I think there may be a difference in efficiency of individuals within the archive. Some may be willing to dig that bit deeper or longer.

This particular Medal that turned from a no to a yes in a matter of weeks has absolutely no cause not to have been found the first time - if the archivist had put enough effort in.

I'll post it when I have time but I have over 100 researched awards that need to be posted. (Without obscuring numbers, names, places or going back and deleting images or information because it's not convenient any more)

Re: Unresearchable Awards List

A little update on "unfound" award research to date.

600+ Medals "For Bravery" ALL FOUND
400+ Medals "For Combat Merits" c12 Not Found
400+ Red Stars c10 Not Found (All over 3.05 million)
300+ Glory III and IIs ALL FOUND

Out of those "Not Found", 6 of them were from my own pile and I have new research options that may find them yet - something for the new year.

Someone asked me to research a Medal "For Bravery" by serial for them this year, stating that they believed that it was awarded to a Czechoslovakian Partisan and had sent it to eight researchers before and got nowhere. Two months later they had all the paperwork confirming that it was indeed awarded to a Czechoslovakian national for Partisan activity - My man on the ground got digging!

Doors continue to open and close and there is always a slightly different selection on offer.

These "Not found" awards are also most likely Militia long service awards or in some cases high serial number awards that were never issued. NKGB and NKVD awards usually turn up now and are more often than not long service awards.

Serial numbered Labour awards are also getting a very high success rate on hits too, the price is a bit higher but if you have to have that associated research, it has to be done.
