Badge "Soldier-Internationist".
The only official Soviet award for the Spanish Civil War I know of is the so called "Soldier-Internationalist" Medal, AKA "Handshake", which is actually a badge.
It was designed by A. Zhuk, and established in 1989, initially for "performance of internationalist duty" in Korea, Algeria, Yemen, Syria, Angola, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan. Later to this list were added China (1924-1927), Spain (1936-39), Mongolia (1939), and finally Cuba (1962-1964). A total of 505,083 pieces were made by the Leningrad mint. I don't see Egypt in the list!

They were the 5 ones.
You have very good pilots.
Good data. I think that this medal have a Revolutionary mean, so Egypt don´t seems truly socialist ;) . Thanks Tal. I´m truly intrigated 50th Ann, 60th Ann  can they be badges or their medal versions???.

Tal,
Egypt is not in the list, because I forgot about it. It was given for action in Egypt in 1962-63, 1969-72, and 1973-74. Red Max, Si, la escala esta en pulgadas (the scale is in inches). Alexei |

About this so-called, "To a Warrior-Internationalist" Medal; does anyone have a photo showing how it is worn on the uniform, or can give the proper place for it in the official Order of Precedence?

Good question.
It was introduced in 1989 too late to make the M1989 uniform regs. However, Article 184 of the regs specifies that other badges established by the proper authorities could be worn. Being a badge it would have to go on the right side. My guess is that in the 1989-1991 period when it was not in the official list of presedence it would go after all other badges. Shawn |

And very easy to fake as "issued". I'd want some provenance.
Afghan document has been discussed and posted here before, I think? Ed Haynes |
