Tal,
Good question, I don't know, but making counterfeit items certainly is. Alexei |

Gentlemen,
One of the Forum members had asked me about this group some time ago, and had sent me more detailed scans. Apparently he had returned it to the seller. The seller says that the serial numbers of the medals are only a few digits apart, yet one medal is very worn, and the other one is not. On top of it these are type 2, var. 3 medals, that are not supposed to be serial numbered in the first place. The serial number on the OGPW was also changed. Alexei |

Thanks...Very Timely!
Tal,
thank you! I was actually considering bidding on this group. The seller seems to be legitimate due to his numerous other auctions... Should have asked, I guess... Thank you, Eric |

I know who bought the group and have seen it close up. It could fool some people (but not Alexei :) ) The OPW is very well engraved, but the wrong style for the serial number range. It's a real pity as the group is to a woman and so could be interesting what with the Bravery medals being only a few apart. The Order book is genuine.
The seller refuded the money without problems and (to me) his other auctions look fine. McL |
