I actually spoke with this dealer, which in my eyes is an easy to deal with and generally nice guy and this is what he said:
"As to McDaniel certificate, it's uneconomical for us to authenticate less expensive items such as this, so we leave it up to the customer. Needless to say, we guarantee all items we sell, so if Paul's authentication ever comes negative, we will take the item back and refund the purchase price in full."

Fair Enough!
Rusty,
That,s fair enough as far as the Refund for the Order/Medal goes but does he refund the Authentication Fee? Eddie

Honestly, I don't know.
I'm sure he would. Rusty.

Rusty,
I've never seen one either, but I remember talking to an engineer, and he had a theory that some types of gold-plating may actually "sink" into the silver. I don't know if that's true or not. Alexei Quote:

Alexei,
Can you elaborate on this? Thanks, Rusty.

Rusty,
It's not really my area of expertese, but I think he theorised that some additions to the gold (or steps of the process) will make the gold dissolve into the silver after certain time. Alexei |

Hello All,
I have an Order of the Red Banner Third Award, type 3 variation 4, that has a slightly higher number then what McDaniel's book shows as highest observed serial number. Book say highest observed is 5,921, mine is 5925. I know most likely that more have been observed higher since the book came out but I thought I'd pass the information on. Could someone give me McDaniels website url or email address please? Thanks, Tom Last edited by CtahhR; 04-12-2012 at 06:54 AM. |

Tom,
The McDaniel book is a great starter reference but for advanced collectors the MonDvor site is up to date... According to MonDvor site: T2V1S1 S/N range: 774 - 5698 T2V1S2 S/N range: 5926 - 7170 There's no need to contact Paul McDaniel since he claims he doesn't want to write another book. Congrats, you have the new lowest observed S/N for T2V1S2. You can send it to MonDvor sites owners... Rusty.
