Guards Badge
Ciao!
Few years ago I purchased this Guard Badge in Moscow, somewhere inside Ismailowsky Park. Before leaving, I had the chance to show it to a retired officer from the USSR Army, who told me it is a real one and not a copy for tourists. I hope he was sincere... Nevertheless, please note the marking barely visible both on the screwback and on the rear of the badge. I tried to make an enlargement with my scanner. Thank you for giving an opinion on this badge! cheers |

Re: Guards Badges
Your badge is authentic IMO, but could be unissued overstock.
The copies I have seen have been fitted with pin attachment device. |

Re: Guards Badges
RocketScientist,
It is a genuine, late-era badge struck by the Pobeda factory. Marc |

Re: Guards Badges
Thanks for your valuable comments. The elder soldier was true, at the end...
I have tried to get info about Pobeda from internet, I found products ranging from cars to watches. Can somebody give me some links on the subject? Lapa, what do you mean with late-era struck? Is it possible that the badgs is from the sixties, as I thought? cheers |

Re: Guards Badges
RocketScientist,
I think that this badge is 1980's manufacture, and most likely unissued stock. Marc |

Re: Guards Badges
Well, thank you Lapa. I thought it was a bit older.

Red Army Guards badge; dating the award?
Hi!
I was wondering if anyone could date this award? Suppose the roundish shape would point to 1970's or later? Cheers! |

Stahanov,
Make that private minting from the 1980's~90's, and the strangest screwplate I have ever seen. Marc |

What makes it a "private" minting? I don't think there were any private enterprises in the Soviet Union. I also believe I detect a factory trademark (probably identified as Moscow #127 elsewhere)on the reverse banner below the "GVARDIYA". I agree that the screwplate is probably not original to the badge. |

I meant to say that it was not produced by the State Mint (MMD or LMD). Marc |
