5th High-Speed Bomber Regiment (Question)

Fellow forum members and experts...
I was wondering if anyone may know more about the "5th High-Speed Air Bomber Regiment" .... my specific question/inquiry is to find out what type of aircraft was flown in this regiment.
Background - I have a screwback Red Banner awarded to an aerial gunner/flight commander in this unit...for bombing raids on enemy on 27 June 1941.
Appreciate any help on this! Dan

Ilyushin DB-3F (Il-4)
Ilyushin Il-2 Stormovik

I can't find anything on that regiment or on "high speed bomber" units in general.

Sadly, the air force remains a black hole when it comes to WWII organization.

Hi Shawn,
Nice to know you have also been looking for these mysterious Regiments.
I've only found a few bits and pieces on different High-speed Bomber Regiments such as the Ap- 2 pic below.
The standard Soviet fast bomber was the SB-2 the first new aircraft Il-2, Pe-2 and Tu-2 types had not left the production facilities at the time of the invasion.
I think they are also called fast bomber Regiments.

Fast Bomber Air Regiment (Skorostnoi Bombardiovochnyi Aviatsionnyi Polk)

The 38th,49th and the 150th SBAP's all flew SB-2's, mind you that was in 1939.

38 SBAP -53 SB-2's
49 SBAP -57 SB-2's
150 SBAP -71 SB-2's

http://www.journalsovietarmy.org/article_index.xls

Under the above address there is a 2 page article on the 5th Fast Bomber Regiment [September 1939 - March 1941] written by the Soviet Air Force Studies Group.
Maybe this would interest you Dan.

The Regiments listed below are also availiable by the same Autors

2nd Fast Bomber Regiment (September 1939-March 1941)

16th Fast Bomber Regiment (September 1939-March 1941)

524th Chemical Defence Unit

Looking for info on the 524th Chemical Defence Battalion ( as well as a better direct translation). I know this is a long shot, but what the heck. Standard dates from 1944ish.
